Some cards but a lack of stamping

Hello everyone
Well! another lovely sunny day - we are doing well.

I have had quite a crafty craft day today - but not much in the way of stamping - although there is a stamped sentiment on one card.

Today I was busy making some samples for forthcoming workshops. Here is the napkin fold card

complete with it's belly band
& below a view of the inside

I was going to punch around the outer edge -but my punches were a little too deep so the outside triangles would have been a bit small.
The other style of card I needed for a workshop was one with an acetate dome.
I think you can just see the acetate dome over the poppies
The acetate dome on this one covers the left hand decoupage image. It is a bit like a half gate fold card.  When it is closed the lady is still visible.  Unfortunately you cannot see the acetate one on this but here is a view from the top.

That's my crafting for today.  Thank you for popping in.

Two challenges in one

Welcome everyone on this beautiful sunny Sunday.

Yes it is a bit blowy - well it is here anyway - but it is so nice to see the sun & it is quite warm too.

I have entered two challenges today with one card.  Here is the card & details follow

I am entering this in this weeks Less is More challenge, which is with a sketch & Crafts4Eternity where the theme is Autumn.

The tree stamp is from Kanban Autumn Silhouettes & I inked the tops of the trees for some foliage at the bottom to ground the trees.  The "forever" sentiment is from a little pack of unmounted stamps that I do not have the name of.  The background rectangle was coloured using Tim Holtz Distress Inks in the following order - Crushed Olive, Wild Honey, Vintage Photo then Fired Brick.  To tone down the Fired Brick a little I carefully went over again with Wild Honey.  With a damp paintbrush I took out a circle of  ink in the top right hand corner to simulate the sun through the autumn haze.  The images were stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  The main image was then mounted onto black card to lift it off the cream card.

Thank you for stopping by, your comments are always welcome.

Less is More challenge

Hello everyone
Finally! I have got around to entering challenges again.

After posting my one layer card yesterday I realised I could have entered it in the Less is More challenge - but I decided to make another card instead.

The challenge this week at Less is More is just to produce a CAS (Clean & Simple) card & they are hoping to get 1000 entries as they had recently reached 1000 followers.  So here is my entry;

To get my symmetrical heart shape I drew a half shape on a folded piece of paper then cut it out & sponged "Red Brick" Distress Ink through the aperture.  The rose is a Clarity stamp & the sentiment is one I have had for a long time & they were stamped in black archival ink.  It looked it a little too white & missing something so I found some narrow black ribbon just to add an edge to the card & finished it with a faux bow.

Thank you for stopping by on your blog travels - please call again & your comments would be most welcome.  Thank you.

One layer stamping

Good afternoon everyone

Today I have been busy making cards by various techniques, but also getting started on some one layer stamped cards. I like this style of stamping but like many other things I don't do enough of it.

A club I belong to recently had a demonstration on one-layer stamping & it rather whetted my appetite to start again.

Here is the photo;

I hadn't originally intended putting any more than the flowers & the sentiment on it, but as I looked at the finished card I noticed a small black mark near the fold.  To cover it I stamped the little butterfly, then felt it needed a balancing one at the top of the coloured rectangle.

Now to stamp some more.

Thank you for dropping in - talk to you again soon.

My first envelope album

I can't believe it has been 11 days since I last blogged.  This just will not do.

So here I am starting again & I thought I would show you a mini envelope album I am in the process of making.

Over the last few weeks I have searched the Internet & books for the different styles of envelope albums - & paper bag albums too.  Every You Tube video I have watched gives different ideas & I have been amazed by just how much you can pack into one of these albums. I have used a mixture of stamping & peel offs in this one. Here are some photos for you to see what I have done so far;
This is the first page or cover & it doesn't have anything on it so far. I have used 6x6 scrapbook papers to decorate the "pages" & used some cream DL size envelopes which have had the short ends opened & are basically folded in half.  This gives an album of just under 5" square. My photography doesn't do the colours justice they really are Christmas red & green.
I haven't forgotten to turn the photo around - that is to show it coming out of the pocket.
The page insert above has a Christmas sentiment on it & the flap of each page has been decorated with little Christmas stocking brads.  They have been in a bits box for ages just waiting to be used.
This page has a gold peel off bauble on it & I have inlaid the pieces from a matching silver image as it didn't show up too well on the paper.
To this page I have added a small pocket & two tags which will hold messages, photos or sentiments
All the pages have been inked around the edge with Adirondack "Bottle" ink to age them a little.
This album could be used as a special Christmas card - so on this page I have added a little tent fold card that could hold the Christmas message for the recipient.
The insert for this pocket has another peel off image on it, & again I have done some inlay work on it.  Of course as a memory album - this insert could hold the photo with the journalling on the back.
This final photo shows a page insert that has been decorated with word staples.  I brought these staples & the stapler a couple of summers ago & this is the first time I have used them.  I think they will be coming out for some of my Christmas cards too now.

So there it is - still lots to do - more embellishments, wider ribbon on the book rings & ideally I would like to get hold of some three-quarter inch book rings as with just 6 envelopes these one inch ones feel a bit too big.

Tomorrow I am going to sit down & tackle a couple of blog challenges, so hope to have more things to show you then.

Thank you for popping by - I am sorry I have not blogged too regularly recently.

Brussels here I come

Hello everyone
This weekend I am off to Brussels for a few days.

I think I mentioned before that I have researched craft shops & found one not too far away from the hotel so hoping I will have time to pop in & have a look.  I know usually an extra effort is made to visit craft shops when visiting other places but I really don't want to miss out on all the other things there are to see.

Hopefully I will return with loads of photos as I should think the architecture will make some beatiful shots. I have just got bitten by the envelope & paper bag album bug so I will be looking at photos of my stay to make one of those when I get back.

What ever you are all doing hope you have a good weekend.  Happy crafting

Talk soon.

Playing with My Craft Studio

Hello again everyone

Today I have had a play with My Craft Studio using some photos I took when on a day out in Portmeirion in North Wales.

You may know it as the village where  "The Prisoner" was set back in the 50's.  I want to do a scrapbook with the photographs I took that day - well not all of them as I took just over 100.  Then I had a thought that I could combine some of them within one photograph.

I aught to say that being a stamper I do create scrapbooks where the pages are decorated with stamping - but I really do enjoy some digital scrap booking too.  This particular page is more likely to be made into a card when reduced to just under A5 size.  I am also looking at printing off the various elements of this digital piece so that I can make a hybrid version.  I would then have to stamp to reproduce the flourish.

Now that I look at the photo above perhaps I should have chosen a photo of one of the hydrangeas I took, as there appears to be hydrangeas along the bottom of the main section.  But then - that makes a second page doesn't it?

Thank you for popping in again.  I look forward to you visiting again.

First Blogaversary

Hello everyone
Well - it is so hard to believe that I have reached the end of my first year & beginning of my second year as a blogger.

That's probably due to the fact that during the year I have had some long spells where I haven't posted anything - so have I truly reached this event?.  Well - yes, I think so, as I started on Tuesday 7 September 2010.

As this is new years day for "Ink on my Fingers?" I feel I should make some new years resolutions.  Perhaps I might even be better at keeping them than I am with the ones made each year on 1 January. I promise myself to blog more frequently - I cannot be sure I can write a post every day but I should be able to do better than I have been doing.

To start this new year right I am going to insert a photo of a card I made some time ago - it is to do with friendship & I am sending out to all my friends who read my blog & to those of you who have become followers.  Thank you for your support.
This weekend I am off to Brussels but I usually take my netbook away with me - so I will try & write a post or two in the evenings whilst I am there.  I am hoping to visit a craft shop I have already found information on & I am hoping for something a little different to be there.  Also I am hoping that the Brussels sights will give me some creative ideas.

Thank you for stopping by.

If you would like to leave a comment it will be nice to hear from you/
